Alpaca Shows

Alpaca owners have the opportunity to attend and participate in competitive alpaca shows across the country.

Shows are held to allow owners to have their animals judged and rated as to fleece quality and conformation.

Fleece quality is judged for crimp, density, color uniformity and fineness.

Animal conformation is judged against "the ideal" alpaca in areas such as correct body proportions, straight legs, good teeth, straight back, etc.

Ribbons are awarded to winners and increase the value of the winning animal.

Owners can also compete with their animals in fun classes that take owner and alpaca through an obstacle course. Obstacles might include leading your alpaca into the back of an open minivan and then on out through the side door, backing down a narrow opening and walking through six strangers seated closely together. Alpacas are very smart, easily trained and great fun to work with.
